Happy Birthday to Me & Vogue!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I’ve just received a notification from WordPress saying ‘Happy One Year Anniversary’ which has shocked and quite frankly scared me! I really cannot believe where that year has gone….

Another big birthday I’m sure a lot of you will be aware of (and that possibly out does my blog’s first birthday) is the big 100 for Vogue which is extremely exciting. London is awash with past Vogue covers, with everyone from retailers to restaurants to arcades celebrating this momentous occasion with gorgeous displays. Amongst some of the celebrations there was the Vogue 100 exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery which was fantastic but has sadly closed now! And over this weekend, the Vogue Festival is taking place; which, I was lucky enough to attend yesterday!

When you imagine a tent in the middle of a park, scarring memories of a damp-ridden, cold Glastonbury tent come streaming back; but oh no, not at Vogue! Nestled within Kensington Gardens is the most beautifully white structured tent that is as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. Upon entering, you’re welcomed by a hallway of past Vogue covers where it was selfies galore! The hall itself was a gorgeously bright, open plan room, where the clear roof gave a lovely natural quality to the space. Within it, there was a space where style and beauty talks took place; an extremely popular pop-up shop where exclusive items were being sold alongside a counter for book signings and t.shirt personalisations. I knew I was in a Vogue wonderland when the portaloos were constructed of a beautiful wood laden with Elemis products to cleanse and moisturise your hands before stepping out back into the madness!

Walking through, I then entered my heaven – the beauty hall. If you read my blog regularly you’ll have seen when I visited the Glamour Beauty Awards, and it was reminiscent of that. The stands you were able to pamper and preen yourself to perfection at were: Jo Malone, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford alongside a Kerastase braid bar and a nails bar which sadly my shellac meant I couldn’t visit! I took full advantage of the offering visiting all (bar the nails bar) and had a great time! I even got to have a one to one with Bobbi Brown make up artist Hannah Martin which was so exciting where she shared some great tips and tricks of the trade!

I then signed up to a beauty masterclass of ‘How To Launch Your Beauty Idea’ with leading industry experts which was so much more interesting and useful than I had imagined! I scribbled note after note whilst listing to Annalise Fard, Director of Home & Beauty at Harrods. Marcia Kilgore, founder of Bliss & Soap & Glory amongst other things! Kathy Phillips, founder of This Works. Anna-Marie Solowij, founder of Beauty Mart and Vogue Beauty Director, Nicola Moulton. There were other talks throughout the day which involved the likes of Kim Kardashian (amazing!), Charlotte Tilbury, Lisa Eldridge, Alexa Chung and many more!

It really was a great day where not only did I get to pamper myself, but I really did learn a lot that I hope will stand my in good stead for where I hope to be in the beauty industry! If any of you lovely lot were there I’d love to know what you thought!

Thanks for reading! X

The Bloggers Market

On Saturday I headed down to the Hoxton hotel in Holburn where a group of lovely bloggers were holding ‘The Bloggers Market’. They Invited fans along to go and shop some of their wardrobes alongside being fed up by the fab baker blogger Afternoon Crumbs, whose cakes and biscuits were delicious! There were lots of other exciting treats to tempt you, as well as a fab room put together by Oliver Bonus, where you could snap your purchases alongside home bits from Oliver Bonus. As part of a competition to win a hamper packed full of Oliver Bonus goodies, we were asked to tag a picture on Instagram of either our purchases on the day or the delicious treats on offer. The below pictures were taken in this particular area….

How pretty is the bag!
I went along in the morning, so missed the mini beauty treatments and caligrahpy which was a shame, but I had a great time anyway when I went, and came away with two pairs of shoes (which I love!) I took a few pictures when I was there, so enjoy!

A Weekend In Paris

If you’ve taken a look at my Instagram recently (the link is on the side of my page), you’ll have seen that I spent a few days strolling the beautifully sunny streets of Paris.
We stayed for two nights, and had the majority of three full days which was the perfect amount! I went with my boyfriend, and we’ve both been already, so we didn’t do lots of major tourist attractions, but still had an amazing time exploring where we hadn’t been before.

Rather than ramble on and on about how amazing the food was (which it was), I’ve decided to show you some of my favourite pictures of food of course, as well as a few other bits of our trip day by day!

Day 1:

Outfit:

Coat: Zara

Shirt: French Connection

Leggings: Warehouse

Boots: Marks & Spencer

Bag: Mulberry

Musee D’Orsay

Exploring the backstreets

We were on route to finding our next destination, and happened to wonder into a great area with cute cafes, and amazing shops full of intricate, fun items. Here are a couple of photos…

Dinner

Outfit:

Top: Mango

Skirt: Zara

Shoes: Zara

Bag (just seen): Whistles

The most delicious mille feiule EVER!

Day 2:
Climbing the Arc De Triumph

Stripes in Paris – would have been rude not to!

Outfit:

Top: Zara

Skirt: Zara

Bag: Whistles

This was so amazing as not only did you see the amazing panoramic views of Paris, but we also had the perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. I’ve climbed the Eiffel Tower before which is an experience; yet the opportunity to see it amongst the beautiful backdrop of the untouched Parisian architecture was simply stunning.

Laudrée

I have recently become unhealthily obsessed with macaroons, so when I saw the Laudrée shop on the Champs Élysées I had to go in. Sweet fumes filled the air as a beautifully manicured shop assistant delicately arranged and wrapped my macaroons in a beautiful box. I wish I could say the eating process mirrored the calming atmosphere of the shop… They were demolished with 10 minutes of getting back to the hotel room.

Dinner

Not your typical French cuisine, but this sushi was absolutely delicious! We noticed there were an increasing amount of sushi restaurants in Paris, so, as sushi lovers ourselves, we thought it rude not to try one out!

Day 3:

Pompidou

We only had a short amount of time to explore here as we caught the afternoon train, however this was such an interesting place to explore. The Pompidou is an arts and cultural centre, and houses a library, art gallery and a centre for music and acoustic research, as well as some very tempting shops and gorgeous rooftop restaurant! First of all it’s HUGE, so you can keep yourself entertained for hours. We made our way up to the top of the building, which offered stunning views of Paris, and then worked our way down through the art galleries. What I loved was the uniqueness of the exhibitions (see the photos above), with some interactive and others purely visual. It’s definitely a great place to go even if you wouldn’t consider yourself an art lover!

Lunch

This steak and chips definitely didn’t disappoint as my final meal!

Hope you have enjoyed my little taste of Paris (literally!)

Shimmering Down The Catwalk

London was awash recently with beautifully long legged creatures and a selection of clothes to rival even Alexa Chung’s wardrobe.

One of my favourite shows was the Mermaid- inspired Sophia Webster show, where the make up look created was the most gorgeous glow, designed to mimic the reflective qualities of the water. The models were dressed to look like mermaids, and they absolutely did. Skin looked beautifully soft as it shimmered in the light, accompanied by soft eyeshadows and lipsticks. Stunning pastel colours were just one of the main attractions, with the footwear being of course the main spectacle of the showcase.

Some of my favourites shots from the show…

Make up artists from Benefit created the look which I found so exciting. I love Benefit make up, and to see products in my make up bag feature so heavily in a show was amazing! It’s great to be able to recreate catwalk inspired looks, without having to take out a mortgage! It’s a shame you don’t develop the modelesque legs at the same time…

The mermaid inspired look is a really simple one to copy, just as long as you have a good highlighter to hand. The one used for the Sophia Webster show was this Benefit High Beam (see below), which I use religiously; however, achieving the same effect doesn’t have to be pricey – it’s just finding something that gives your skin a beautiful glow. (In fact drinking a lot of water can help heaps in this!)

This is definitely a trend I’ll be jumping onto the bandwagon of, as glowing skin will always win over the dull days that define winter!

Have you guys given this look a try yet?

Burberry Lip For Less

Happy Sunday all!

If you follow my blog regularly you’ll have seen on my AW15 Beauty Wishlist the Burberry Beauty Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Bright Plum. I became obsessed by this lipstick thanks to the Burberry catwalk show at London Fashion Week last week. A main beauty look was a gorgeous bold berry lip, which was complemented beautifully by a simple base. As soon as I saw the look I was completely hooked! Firstly I am IN LOVE with the colour; it’s great for autumn, and looks amazing against any skin tone. I also think it’s a fab colour to wear if you don’t like being adventurous with your lip colour. Yes it does stand out in the sense that it’s not a neutral colour; yet the fact that it’s so flattering against different skin tones means it’s not too overpowering, which makes it a perfect bold lip colour!

The look as seen at Burberry…

The Burberry lipstick used is quite pricey at £25, so I thought I’d try and find a cheaper alternative to recreate the look. I created my first ever video for this look (please be nice), so take a look at it here if you fancy! I’m really not a fan of hearing myself back (I’ve been cringing all morning), and know I have a few things to perfect when posting videos, but hopefully you’ll like it!

The look I created:

Products used:

Rimmel Long Lasting Lipstick in Starry Eyed , £4.99
Natural Collection Lip Liner in Mulberry, £1.99
Eve Lom Kiss Mix, £16
Benefit Boiing Concealer, £17.50

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and found it somewhat useful (sorry my phone buzzed during it, oops)! Any feedback on the blog/video is very welcome, and would love to hear your thoughts on the look!

Thanks for visiting!

June Favourites!

I realise that this is a very common post amongst bloggers now, but I thought why not jump on the bandwagon and show you all a few of my favourite discoveries from June!

Firstly, I just had to include these silk cami pyjamas as my background for this post, as they are my new favourite things!! They are the perfect summer pyjamas, as they are so light and cooling on hot summer nights, as well as being super comfortable and so soft against your skin! I also love that they have a gorgeously delicate pastel floral print. I am the biggest fan of the Rosie for Autograph range as not only are they beautiful pieces, but they are without doubt the most comfortable things around! Marks and Spencer triumphs again! There are so many amazing patterns that reflect seasonal changes; from silky underwear sets to cotton pyjamas to the most amazingly fluffy dressing gowns. If you haven’t tried anything from this range, I seriously recommend you do!

This Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water is the perfect cooling remedy for all of this hot weather we’ve been experiencing recently in the UK! I definitely am not complaining, but it would be a lot nicer to have a swimming pool, or the sea nearby to cool down. (Being slap bang in the middle has its disadvantages when it’s so hot). So, in my quest to cool down I found this amazing cooling spray by Avène. It gives the most amazingly light water spray, which not only acts to cool you down, but also helps to hydrate and refresh your hot and bothered skin. I lay in bed spraying mine over me last night, and it was heavenly! As it’s essentially composed of water, this is amazing for all skin types as it basically acts to soothe the skin, so is a must have for anyone!

I’m not really sure why I stopped using this Benefit eye brightening product, but it really is amazing at doing what it says on the tin. I’ve been really run down recently, which always is reflected in my eyes; so, I needed a product that would help to lift and freshen my eye area, even when I’ve not been feeling so fresh myself! I use this on the inner corner of my eyes, and then cover with a reflecting shadow (I love using Bobbi Brown’s shimmer brick). I also apply on the arch of my brows to give them extra lift, and sometimes on the water line of my lower lashes to really help open my eyes up. This product is called Eye Bright for a reason – it really does leave your eyes looking brighter and more awake!

I have always been the biggest fan of Aussie hair care, so when I realised they had released a ‘Shower Smoothie’ shower gel I HAD to have it! There are so many things I love about this product from the amazing macadamia nut oil scent, to the luxurious consistency; to the product actually being a subtle purple colour- amazing! For a few minutes every morning, I feel almost like I am back in Australia…. If only!

I’d been eyeing up this Lancome Hypnôse Eye Artistry Collection Hypnôse Palette in Star Eyes for a while because of the beautiful colours, so I decided to treat myself! I was looking for a small set to take away with me that had similar colours to my Naked 2 palette, and stumbled across this. There are four gorgeous metallic colours, with a pinky undertone, which I find works really well to take you from daytime through to the evening. There are two handy mini applicator brushes and mirror inside the compact, which makes it even more ideal for carrying around. I can’t really find anything I don’t like about this product!

Showing Off My Summer Toes

So you may have seen my post recently about this amazingly bright Revlon nail varnish that I am slightly obsessed with…. I won’t ramble on about how much I love it AGAIN, but you can take a read of my post here

I went sale shopping recently, and found the perfect sandals to accompany my bright toes! These beauties are the Iris Snake Skin Sandals from Kurt Geiger and not only are they super comfortable, but are now £49 compared to their original price of £85! The neutral colour scheme is great because I can throw them on, knowing they’ll go with anything! I also love that the snakeskin/zebra type pattern gives them a different twist!

These will definitely be first in my case for my summer holiday!
