Everyday Make Up in 10 Minutes

I go through phases with my make up, and currently I’d say I’m fairly happy with my routine which for me is pretty impressive, so I thought I’d share it with you all! I like my sleep so I’ve tried to cut down the amount of time I spend on my make up in the morning as much as possible. So, please find below a quick ‘how to’ for everyday make up in 10 minutes. As you can see from the picture it’s a really natural look, meaning it’s pretty easy to recreate!

First, prepping your skin is so important to ensure you get a good base for your make up to sit. I don’t use a primer, but I do make sure to thoroughly moisture my face with my everyday moisturiser. Then, comes the most important part for me, the concealing. I cover any blemishes/red areas using a concealer, my favourite at the moment is Hide The Blemish by Rimmel. I then also use this as a base for my under eye area.

Following this, I apply Oil Free Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser using my fingers as I prefer to blend that way. I take Clinique Airbrush Concealer in Medium and apply under my eyes. To set this all using the real techniques powder brush I apply Mac Select Sheer/Pressed Powder in NC5 over all of my face. I’ll then gently define my cheekbones using the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Palette in Bronze.

To highlight, I dab 3 dots of Benefit High Beam under my eye area and then blend in. Moving onto my cheeks, I take The Multiple by Nars in Orgasm and apply to the apples of my cheeks. I then blend this out with a touch of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose Quartz using the Bobbi Brown Face Blending Brush.

Moving onto my eyes, I first focus on my brows. I fill in using the dark colour in the Focus & Fix Kit in Medium by Make Up Revolution. I then brush over to really tidy up using the Benefit Speed Brow Gel.

Using my finger I then sweep a layer of Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Sparkling Champagne over my eye lids and up to the brows. For my eyeliner I turn to my trusty Bobbi Brown Gel Eye Liner in Sepia Ink and create a simple flick at the outer corner of my eye. I follow with a coat of mascara in Diorshow Iconic High Definition Lash Curler Mascara in Black, and then another coat of Ultra Tech Curve Mascara by Kiko Cosmetics in Black.

Finally for my lips, I moisturise first using the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Magic Balm and then follow with the MAC Pro Longwear Lip Liner in Staunchly Stylish. I then apply a coat of Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colour Lipstick in Neutral Rose for the final touch!

Writing it down it seems like a long process but I promise it really isn’t! I’ve done it half asleep before so it is almost like a foolproof guide to applying makeup.

Thanks for reading 🙂

MAC Lip Liner in Staunchly Stylish

Hello hello!

This will only be a short post this evening, but I had to share with you my new favourite lip liner that I recently discovered. I picked it up last week at the MAC counter when I was travelling through Milan airport. I was pretty overwhelmed with the products available, but after trying more than 10 different colours in various lipsticks and lip liners on my hand (getting to the airport early meant it got a little out of control…),  this lip liner in Staunchly Stylish kept catching my eye because of it’s deep and pretty nude colour.

It’s quite a neutral colour on and the finish is so moisturising and yet buildable that it looks really natural on. This particular colour is part of the pro longwear lip pencil range which is really obvious when wearing! It’s durable and gives a great finish, but then that’s no surprise from MAC!

I wear mine alone under lip balm to give a slightly more dewy effect on my lips, but it definitely gives enough nourishing coverage to be worn alone.

I’m starting to really invest in my lip liner collection so I’d love any suggestions you have!

Have a great Friday!

Product Review – MAC Blush in Peachy Keen

This is one of my absolute favourite blushes to date! I bought this to wear as a daytime colour, but I’m so in love with it I wear it all the time!

It’s a really pretty, subtle colour as it has a lovely pinky/peachy shimmer to it. It has great coverage yet feels weightless when you wear it, which is great! I apply it in the morning and would only reapply a small amount if I’m going out after work, just to make me look more awake!

I’m now on the hunt for a soft nude blush to wear for an upcoming wedding. I think another trip to MAC is needed!!

10-Step Guide – Interview Make Up

As I’ve had my share of interviews recently, it’s fair to say that I’ve got my perfect look nailed. I know first hand how difficult it is choosing what to wear, how to style your hair, and make up for an interview. Whilst I am all for highlighting your features through make up, I think most of all it’s so important to remain professional in your look, and not too over the top. Ultimately you don’t want an interviewer remembering you for your bright pink lipstick rather than how great you actually are for the job!

So, after extensive research I’ve put together a list of the products I’ve whittled down to be my ‘interview essentials’; as well as a quick 10-step guide on how to create my interview make up look…

**Warning there are lots of pictures!**

  1. Conceal dark areas/spots using Boi-ing by Benefit in shade 2 and Touché Éclat by Estee Lauder in shade 1.

  1. Apply tinted moisturiser by Laura Mercier all over face, blending into your neck. I sometimes apply a little more concealer/highlighter at this stage if I feel an area needs more attention. Dust Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Light to Medium all over face to hold. I prefer using this mineral powder as opposed to pressed powder, as I feel it gives better coverage.

  1. Lightly contour cheeks using Nars bronzer in Laguna. I then lightly cover all over my face to give a subtle glow.

  1. Place 3 dots of High Beam highlighter by Benefit on cheekbones and blend. Depending on how tired my eyes look I will also place one dot on the inner corner of my eyes.

  1. Apply a small amount of Benetint by Benefit to apples of cheeks and blend. Follow by applying MAC blusher in Peachy Keen on apples of cheeks and upwards towards cheekbones. I’ve also used a Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Rose on top of this, as well as dusting all over as the light particles reflect sun, making your skin glow beautifully.

  1. Dust Foxy eye shadow from Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette all over lids and up to eyebrows. I then put the lightest shade (Venus) as well as the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in both the corners of my eyes, as well as my brow bones to reflect light.
  1. Fill eyebrows in using the brown colour Faint from the same Naked Basics Palette. This colour won’t suit everyone, but it happens to be perfect for my colouring!

  1. Apply gel eyeliner by Bobbi Brown in Sepia Ink closely to lashes. I’ve created a small flick at the end of my lashes to give the illusion of bigger eyes. I really don’t think it’s necessary to use eyeliner on your bottom lashes, as it can tend to make your eyes look tired!

  1. Apply two coats of Diorshow by Dior mascara to top lashes, and one to bottom lashes.

  1. Finally, put a coat of Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Captivante on, Et Voila!

Hopefully you’ll find this useful to get some tips on how to perfect your make up look prior to your interview! It’s so important to feel confident in your look, as you exude confidence as a result, which is vital for getting your dream job!

My Selfridges Haul

I popped into Selfridges recently with the intention of only getting a new bronzer, as I’ve nearly run out of my current one. I got slightly distracted however, and came out with a few other things…

1. This is a limited edition version of the Laguna bronzer by Nars. It also comes with a brush (which, is amazing), and has a mirror on the inside of the compact making it perfect for taking it out and about. I’ve been using this colour for years, and I love it! It’s not too dark, and gives you a beautifully subtle glow. My only issue with this limited edition pack, is that the packaging is far larger than my current bronzer. You do actually get more for your money, but it will definitely be taking up a lot of room in my make up bag.

The size in comparison to my old bronzer. I wonder how long the new one will stay that clean…

As you can see, you do get more product for your money (plus the mini version of a brush worth £31 in normal size, all for only £10 extra at £39). This is limited edition, so make sure to get your hands on it before they’re all gone!

2. This blush by MAC (Peachy Keen) is such a great colour to wear. This isn’t the first time I’ve bought this for a reason! It’s so pretty, and acts as a great colour to really brighten up your look!

3. My all-time favourite eye liner – Bobbi Brown strikes again! I find this so so easy to use, and it really does last all day. The colour I purchased (Sepia Ink) is one I’d use on a daily basis, as I find it a lot more flattering than pure black. I also tend to use cobalt blue on a night out to really make my eye colour pop.

4. When I was deciding whether to purchase this brush alongside my eyeliner, I did think the make up artist was selling me something I didn’t need. But, I was completely wrong! This brush is amazing. One end is a thin application brush for creating a defined line, and the other is a smudging brush, perfect for if you want a smokey eye. Bobbi Brown brush quality is great, and I especially love the clever ‘click in, click out’ technology of the fine brush end, which cleverly hides and protects it when you’re not using.

Pink, Pink To Make The Boys Wink!

After going through my make up drawer earlier today, I realised how many lipsticks I actually own that I never wear (oops). It’s surprising how many pink lipsticks I found seeing as I wouldn’t consider myself to be a wearer of pink. So, to show them some love, I’ve chosen four of my favourite colours to show you…

  1. Crème Cup by MAC. A bestseller from MAC for a reason! A lovely light pink that will suit any occasion.
  1. Romantic by N07. A beautifully subtle colour to wear that gives your lips a perfect coverage.
  1. Vintage Pink by Rimmel. Such a pretty colour, this is perfect for like me, those with typical ‘English Rose’ colouring.
  1. Pink by Bobbi Brown. If you’re feeling brave this is a fantastic colour. Popping with vibrancy, and super moisturising, Bobbi’s lipstick is a winner for me!
